The truth about privilege.

I heard the conversation between Candace Owens and Adam Carolla earlier today. I enjoy listening to them both and I heard a few things that were said in a way that I hadn't thought about before. Adam was saying that, for example, when he's pulled over by a cop for a busted headlight or something, he doesn't view the fact that he was pulled over as a racist incident or that the cop was racist. He had a busted light and the cop was doing his job. And if the cop was a douche, then the cop was just a douche. It doesn't always have boil down to being a racist thing. Same with if a neighbor is a jerk. Maybe the neighbor is just a jerk, he doesn't have to racist to be a jerk. He can, solely, be a jerk.
So the real truth about white privilege is that white folks have the privilege of simply knowing there are some jerks out there. And that these jerks are just jerks, period. And not everything negative that happens to them is because of racism. White man didn't get the job? Maybe because he wasn't the best person for the job. (unless there was a hiring quota that mandated skin color that isn't white) then that would be racism, but we can't talk about that. White privilege is a privilege of clarity, of knowing that if you break the law, unwanted things can happen. That if you're driving drunk or not paying your taxes to the IRS mafia, bad things happen. And that bad decisions lead, many times, to bad outcomes. And that your bad outcome is most likely NOT because of racism, its because of bad choices.
